Grove Cottage Calls on Community to Help Realise New Building Dream
Over the past four weeks, we have shared our build journey with all you wonderful Indie readers, covering:
- The historical context of Grove Cottage and the motivations behind needing a new building
- The demand for improved SEND provision and the necessity for a new building
- Honouring the wonderful Crabb family who left us an amazing legacy.
Announcement to the Community
This week, we’re excited to share how we announced our plans to a smaller community audience and provide information on where you can find us to learn more.
Fundraising Ball Event
On Saturday, May 11th, we hosted our fundraising ball, unveiling our new building plans to an enthusiastic audience. Our guests were the first to see detailed floorplans and artist’s impressions of the future Grove Cottage, which promises to be a vital resource for our community for the next 60 years and beyond.
An Evening of Community and Support
The evening was a testament to the power of community. Guests enjoyed heartfelt speeches from Grove Cottage member Syd and her mother, Marie, whose touching words about what Grove Cottage means to them left few dry eyes in the house. Our Performing Arts group delivered two wonderful songs, and The Lackeys closed the night with their memorable performance.
Gratitude for Our Supporters
“We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended and made the night so special,” said Richard Smith, Treasurer for Grove Cottage. “The evening was filled with remarkable speeches and performances, and we are incredibly thankful for the generous pledges towards our new building. These contributions have earned supporters a place on our donor wall of thanks in the new building, marking their commitment to our mission.”
Official Launch and Fundraising Efforts
This event marked the official launch of our building plans to the community, signalling the beginning of our journey to raise the final funds needed to turn this dream into reality. Your support is crucial. The new Grove Cottage will serve as a haven for individuals of all ages with learning disabilities and special additional needs, guaranteeing a nurturing environment for generations to come.
