Winner Announced for Grove Cottage’s “A Better Building for a Brighter Future” Colouring Competition
Grove Cottage is thrilled to announce the winner of its summer holiday children’s colouring competition, launched as part of the “A Better Building for a Brighter Future” initiative. The competition invited local children to imagine and illustrate how the exterior of Grove Cottage’s new building could look.
Hertfordshire-born children’s book illustrator Aysha Awwad, who judged the competition, selected Emily for their vibrant design and creative vision. Aysha commented on the winning entry:
“The colours in this artwork were so bright and cheerful, and I loved how it showed creativity and thoughtfulness. The powerful words included really added meaning and made it stand out even more.”
Emily received a Grove Cottage bear, winner’s certificate and a signed copy of a book Aysha Awwad illustrated, “Whose Dog Is This?”
The colouring competition has been a highlight of the summer for Grove Cottage’s “A Better Building for a Brighter Future” campaign, which seeks to modernise its facilities to continue providing vital support to over 180 individuals with learning disabilities and their families each year.
“We’ve been blown away by the enthusiasm of the children who entered,” said Mina Pandya, Community Fundraiser at Grove Cottage. “The competition was a wonderful way to engage with the community and let young people imagine the future of our new building.”
