A new building for Grove Cottage!
We are delighted to be able to share some exciting news about our plans to rebuild Grove Cottage. Immediately prior to the first national lockdown in March 2020, we were granted planning permission to knock down and rebuild Grove Cottage on the current site at 151 London Road.
The new building will provide a purpose-built, fully accessible space and increase the first-floor accommodation to enable us to run additional services. Thank you to those who completed questionnaires about the new build and attended one of the focus groups during the winter – your contribution to shaping our future space and services has been invaluable.
We have been extremely fortunate to have received some generous donations and a substantial legacy towards the cost of the rebuild. We still have some way to go but hope to be in a position to demolish the current building in the summer of 2022. This is a very exciting time for all of us. The build is anticipated to last around a year and our clubs and services will be relocated during this time. Throughout the redevelopment we will continue to be here for our members and families. It is hoped that we will be able to open our new doors and welcome our members back to the new building in September 2023.
Our Board of Trustees have established a Grove Cottage Development Team and we will be putting regular updates on our website so please check back here to view the latest developments.
If you have any questions about our redevelopment, please contact Monica Baker, our Development Project Co-ordinator at monica@mencapgrovecottage.org
