Leaving a gift in your will

When making your will it is important that you feel that your loved ones will be looked after. We hope that after you have taken care of those closest to you that you may consider leaving a gift to Grove Cottage so that we can look after others who are in need.

Leaving a gift in your will, whether small or large, is a wonderful way of supporting charities that are closest to you beyond the gifts made during your life.

Writing a will

Updating an existing will

If you have a will that you wish to amend you can do this by making an official alteration called a codicil. You must sign a codicil and get it witnessed in the same way as witnessing a will.  It is advised that for major or multiple changes you should make a new will.

Types of gift

• Pecuniary gift – A Pecuniary Gift is a specific amount as a cash donation.
• Residual gift – A Residual Gift is a percentage of the total estate.
• Gift in Kind – A Gift in Kind is a specific item or items that you think will be of some value when sold.
